The Many Uses of Black Walnut : An Educational Gleaning Event
Friday, September 28th 5-7pm
Location: the Black Walnut Tree in front of the Hamilton Mansion
Join the Philadelphia Orchard Project for an installment of our new Community Gleaning Education Series - featuring community teachers presenting on lesser known fruits and herbs of the orchards.
You may be surprised to find this plant a valuable ally with many uses! Join us at the Woodlands to gather walnuts and experience the initial steps of processing them for edible nuts, use as a fabric dye, wood stain, rust remover, and as a powerful herbal medicine. Bring your own fabric to experiment dying with if you'd like and wear clothes you don't care about to participate in the whole process.
** This series is offered on SLIDING SCALE $5-20. This enables POP to make these learning opportunities accessible to our community, support community facilitators, and provide materials. Please select the level that best reflects your means. Thank you! **
