"Grave" by Allison C. Meier

  • The Woodlands 4000 Woodland Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19104 USA (map)

Join author and cemetery tour guide, Allison C. Meier as she discusses her first book, Grave, only at The Woodlands on Thursday, April 20th at 6:00pm.

What Is the Future of the Grave?
How Americans care for the dead has changed over the past centuries, from simple interments in the ground to grand mausoleums. Now new ideas like human composting and forest burials are transforming this final ritual of life. In Grave, released this year as part of Bloomsbury’s Object Lessons book series, author and cemetery tour guide Allison C. Meier takes a ground-level view of how burial sites have transformed over time and how they continue to change. In this talk, she will share some of the stories of Grave and visitors will have time to reflect on how the past, present, and potential futures of the cemetery is reflected in the evolving landscape and community of The Woodlands.
